Christmas has a new light
The path of light installations
The theme of this year’s edition is “Christmas has a new Light,” inspiring artists, students, and professionals to create thea unique spectacle divided into five areas
- “LUMINARIPAINTING” – An art project created by the Lecce Academy of Fine Arts, developed specifically for Trame di Luce. This project arose from a light painting workshop where students reimagined traditional Apulian luminarias as streams of light captured in photographs. The results were then transformed into gobo projections, mapping the facade of the Accademia dei Lincei, adding a captivating, contemporary layer to the historic building.
- “AND LIGHT BE” – A majestic Christmas tree illuminated by hundreds of lanterns, designed by NewBlend in collaboration with Thorsten Wulf. This project stands as a luminous tribute to the holiday spirit, blending tradition with cutting-edge creativity.
- “PALMA – THE MAGIC OF THE ORIGINS,” dedicated to the birth of the tree tradition, created by Unità C1.
- “AETHEREA”, the interactive installation brings Fontana dei Tritoni to life created by Sapienza University of Rome, Department of Architecture and Design, Master in Lighting Design (MLD): architecture, technologies, metaverse.
- “BLOW OF LIFE”, which invites us to reflect on our connection with nature, a creation of Professor Valentini’s team in collaboration with Nature 4.0, the innovative startup of the University of Tuscia and Art Project.
- “SECRET DECORS”, reflection on sustainability and the conscious choice of energy conservation, by students of ITS Academy Roberto Rossellini for Communication and Information Technology.
- ROSA ROSAE – ARCH OF LOVE”, an installation dedicated to love, conceived by NewBlend creatives with artists Jan Rittweger and Erik Kubrinski. “SOURCE TREE,” a living expression of light and nature created by NewBlend and creatives Jan Rittweger and Erik Kubrinski.

- “LIGHT OF BAMBU’”, a harmonious choreography of music and light by the Roman duo MOTOREFISICO.
- “ELECTRIC WATERFALL”, the work that aims to raise awareness of the inseparable connection between water and technology. Project by Unità C1.
- “YOU ARE LIGHT”, evocative photo spot, provided by METALUX.
- “THE JOY OF GIGANTS”, visual play among the trees of the Garden. Project by NewBlend, programmed by creatives Thorsten Wulf & Jan Rittweger and Erik Kubrinski.
- “REAME OF WINTER”, an invitation to dwell on the beauty of the season. Installation by NewBlend.
- “CREATURES IN THE WOODS”, holographic effects dedicated to the creatures of the forest. Work by Unità C1.
- “IT’S CHRISTMAS!!!”, installation that brings back the excitement of Christmas morning. Work created by NewBlend, through artists Thorsten Wulf & Jan Rittweger and Erik Kubrinski.
- “MAGIC NOTES”. an explosion of lights for the perfect photo. Kindly provided by our media partner Dimensione Suono Roma
- “ANGEL’S WINGS”, an enchanting photo spot provided by META LUX.
- “SURPRISE!”, an incredible cascade of gifts. Artwork provided by META LUX.
- “ILLUMINATE ME”, words as a representation of feelings that tell the magic of Christmas. Artwork kindly provided by Soffieria Monti.
- “FLUXIT”, A celebration of the tradition of gathering around the fire. An artwork by Dutch artist duo Vendel & De Wolf, provided by Light Art Collection.
- “VIA LATTEA”, where light guides our gestures, a work by the Roman duo MOTOREFISICO.
- “PICTO SENDER MACHINE”, an interactive installation that invites play and expression. Provided by Light Art Collection and created by Chilean artist Felipe Prado.
- “BRINDIAMO!”, the perfect conclusion to the trail with a lighting finale designed by NewBlend that includes the two brilliant photo spots ‘Echo of the Stars’ and ”Checkmate.”
The soundtrack was created and coordinated by the great talents of Andrea Costantini, Marco Leo, Giacomo Cacciatori, consisting of unreleased songs created especially for Trame di Luce integrated with songs that Alberto Bof created especially for the light show in 2023.
